CS Alumni Meet (ALMA MATER CLUSTER - 2021)


 

All together, around 250 members were joined in the Zoom Cloud Meeting.

The meeting started with the Prayer song, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The welcome address was delivered by Prof.A.Charles, Head of the department. The Dynamics of the Alumni Reunion was presented by Dr. L. Arockiam, Director of MCA and Coordinator, Department of Data Science, Former Dean, School of Computing Sciences. Rev.Fr.S.Peter SJ, Secretary, felicitated the gathering and explained about the importance of alumni interaction and alumni support to the college and alumni association activities. He invited the gathering to help the juniors in getting placed and to share the information regarding current trends in industries and its expectations. Finally, he requested the alumnus to participate the alumni meeting regularly.

Rev. Dr. M. Arockiasamy Xavier SJ, Principal, congratulated and felicitated the gathering. He appreciated the alumnus for success they have achieved and insisted them to facilitate Industry Interaction, provide inspiration and guide budding students for project and placements. He invited the alumni/ae to aid the department and college in enhancing the development of student’s welfare.

The Alumni/ae from various part of the world joined the meeting and shared their Nostalgia about their learning experiences, their success story and what they feel like regarding the institution, with the audience. Few names were mentioned in the member list among them.

Suggestions from the Alumni towards the development of the Institution

  • Conducting Job fair in the Campus.
  • Services to college (Seminars, workshops and industrial visits).
  • Alumni Chapter Development.
  • Interaction with present faculties with graduated students.

At the end of the meeting vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. S. Britto Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, department of Computer Science. He thanked Rev. Fr. Secretary, Rev. Fr. Principal, Head of Department and Alumni/ae for attending the meeting. He also thanked faculty members of the department for their extended support to organize this reunion. Finally, he thanked and invited the alumni/ae to visit our college and to extend their support.

 

CS & IT Alumni Meet – 2018





     CS & IT Alumni Meet – 2018 was held on 2nd February, 2018 at LICET, Loyola College Campus, Chennai. Around 110 Alumni participated in this meet. The meeting was started at 7.20 pm with prayer song and followed by lighting of the lamp by officials. Dr. L Arockiam, Dean, school of computing sciences welcomed the gathering and instilled the importance of the meet. Prof. M Mahendran, Placement Officer, explained the need and importance of the CS & IT Alumni meet – 2018 and it’s proceedings.

     The felicitation messages of Rev. Fr. Principal and Dr. D P. Jeyapalan, Head, Dept. of Computer Science, were displayed on screen. Rev.Fr. Francis Thamburaj SJ., senior most alumnus of CS Department of St. Joseph’s college and the present Dean of LICET, delivered the presidential address. Prof. D.S. Ravi, Associate Professor of Computer Science, felicitated the gathering.

     Prof. P Joseph Charles, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology briefed the history of the department and it’s achievements in the yester years. Also he pointed that IT Department signed two MoUs during decennial celebrations which was held on 25th February 2017. An MoU was signed with JiFF IT solutions(p)Ltd., Chennai, on 18th January 2018, in the presence of Rev.Fr. Principal. He stated that the IT Department is going to sign an MoU with DLK products and Services (p) Ltd., Chennai before 15th February 2018. He invited the alumni members to collaborate and support the future ventures which would be taken by the department.

The Department of computer science signed four MoUs with 20 Cube Chennai- 2, Pyroferus Technologies Chennai- 83, XCD sys Hyderabad, and Incien IT solutions Chennai- 24.





     In the professional sharing session, more than 10 alumni shared their valuable inputs and suggestions for enhancing the placements, collaboration and organizing the training, video conferencing sessions, seminars, conferences and workshops, exploring the CSR Funds and activities. Also they shared their views to improve the curriculum and strengthen the practical exposures like projects and internships with the support of industries. The faculty members of CS & IT, requested the alumni to find out the possibilities for establishing incubation centre at college and visit the alma matter periodically so as to motivate and train the juniors with recent trends and new technologies which are prevailing and emerging in the industries, as part of the faculty exchange programme. Both the faculty members and alumni realized and agreed to have this kind of meet at least twice a year either to be held in any metro city or at college.

     Finally Rev. Fr. S. Arul Oli SJ., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, who was an instrumental and responsible for organizing this meet, proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked each and every person who contributed either small way or big way to the grand success of this meet. The meeting was ended with photo session at 9.15 pm, followed by the grand Dinner.
